Description Of Work: I had the living room and hallways painted.Member Comments:

I hired them to originally paint the basement, but plans changed and I needed to paint the living room and hallways.  I had used the Angie's List Deal for 2 days/2 painters, but I was pleasantly surprised that I would be able to have 4 painters for 1 day instead.  The guys were great!  Very nice, professional and friendly.  They did a great job with the painting and cleaned everything up.  I would definitely use them again!

Description Of Work: Ultimate custom painting performed trim painting that included crown molding on a two-story foyer. Scheduling was painless, the crew put in an excellent day's work, and I'm very satisfied with the quality of the painting. I thought a special deal for two painters for eight hours each, and I feel that I certainly got my monies worth. I will definitely use this company again for future painting needs.Member Comments: Overall, I was very pleased with the service I received. Rick was very helpful in scheduling, and with two painters put in a good days work and were very meticulous with the painting and the cleanup afterwards. Having professionals truly makes a difference.

Description Of Work: Interior paint in the finished part of the carpeted basement. Turned dark brown trim white, and orange and yellow walls into a neutral light gray.Member Comments: We had a basement with deep dark brown trim and bright yellow and orange walls.  We wanted to neutralize the wall paint and make the trim white to match our remodeled basement bathroom.  We were tough customers because we didn't really understand how hard this task was to repaint the trim white.  Over the course of 7 estimates, we toyed between touching up brown trim or changing it into white.  Ultimate Custom Painting were very prompt with their bid (some still have yet to come in) and very reasonably priced compared to a few others whose vans are commonly used in Sq Hill area.  We agreed on a date - which was within 1 week of getting the bid.  A few days later we changed our plan and requested a re-quote for painting the trim white.  Rick again was very patient with us, prompt with a reply, and still stated the work could be done on the original day quoted.

He and his team arrived on-time and we reviewed the plan in person again.  Two men stayed and spent pains-taking hours filling holes and sealing cracks that were hidden by the brown paint.  Both of them ended up staying late to finish the job, for which we were grateful.  At the end of the day, they washed the few faint paint marks on the stairs, vacuumed, and replaced the furniture.  The green Low VOC paint was especially appreciated because we had company the next day.  The basement is BEAUTIFUL, and I will call them first for our next paint job.  I can't believe they finished in one day.  If this is what they do with a basement, I am excited to see what they do with a main room in the house!

Description Of Work: Touch up plaster on walls in living room, dining room, stair well and bed room -- to repair cracks, bubbles and buckles.
Walls painted.
Ceiling repair after water damage, and painting ceiling.
Exterior painting on our addition's wood work.

Member Comments: We own an older row home in Squirell Hill (1930s) so we're always cautious with contractors knowing how to work on "problem" homes like ours.  Rick and his team took to the project like tru pros -- we did a combination of replastering, painting, as well as repairing a ceiling damaged by water leak.  We had some bubbles, buckles and cracks in our original-to-the-house plaster walls and they were improved considerably.  The only negative is the mess, but I suppose that is inevitable when working with plaster and paint on multiple floors.

The only caution I would add is: If you are used to doing it yourself, be sure when you refer to painting a room, you specify moldings, shelves and doors as well  at the time of the estimate. Some issues can arise when the customer thinks a room is the entire room, not just the walls.

Description Of Work: This job was for exterior painting of the front (only) of our house and large wrap around porch including porch roof, flooring and over a hundred spindles, roof overhangs, gutters, shutters, widow frames, fish scale shingles and fancy work throughout. The job required much prep work for peeling paint and caulking for cracked fish scale shingles and two coats of paint throughout in three different colors in the Victorian "painted lady style."  Quite an undertaking and we have to save up to do the rest of the house! Though I understand doing one side at a time in these houses is not an unusual practice because of the high cost due to the extreme amount of labor involved. I mean these guys are out there with artist's brushes for some of the work. Rick has our house shown on his web page at the top of the gallery link. The difference is nothing short of phenomenal.Member Comments: The cost is an eye crossing amount especially for someone from Greensburg, but if you start adding up the labor costs for a crew of five painters for nearly three weeks of work for 4-8 hours a day (weather permitting), you can start to see how it all adds up. This company was recommended to us by the Pittsburgh History and Landmarks Foundation which I counted in the positive column as qualified to deal with historic homes and the gallery of pictures on his web site also included several older homes that they had worked on. The final work was very, very good and as the daughter of a inspector and a as a scientistI myself, I am a genuine perfectionist. Assuming the paint holds up to the weather in this area, I will consider this paint job an unqualified success. However, if there is a problem, Rick guarantees most work as "lifetime" so I should be able to get it resolved easily. I don't see him as the kind of contractor that will disappear into the mist like some others I have dealt with in the past. I have never had a more responsive contractor, usually answering any questions the same day by e-mail or text. I am still trying to get over my inherent cynicism about contractors.
The workers were unfailingly polite, didn't track dirt everywhere, did not ruin my flower beds (such as they are), did not drip paint everywhere, and vacuumed up all paint chips and dust from the prep work. They didn't even grumble when I changed one of the colors halfway through the shutters (slight extra charge there included in price above). Although they arrived early, they were not obnoxiously loud and generally didn't play music until after ten in consideration of us since we can sleep later some days as we are both college professors. An after that, the music was pretty good anyway.
All in all, so far, my husband I are very satisfied. Maybe someone could do it cheaper, but I doubt you would get the same quality in workmanship or materials. I hope to use this group again for the rest of the house as soon as we win the lottery.

Description Of Work: Prepped and painted (two coats) dining room ceiling, trim, and wallsMember Comments: Everything went extremely smoothly.  The men from Ultimate Custom Painting (UCP) arrived promptly, moved the furniture that needed to be moved from the room and took down the drapes very carefully, covered the remaining furniture and floors with drop cloths, and spent the better part of the first day prepping.  This included some plaster repair, spot sanding, and sealing along molding and baseboards (so that a straight line could be achieved and it was).  Completed the ceiling before leaving on Day 1, returned first thing in the morning to do the trim (of which there was a lot) and the walls (two coats all around).  When they were finished, they returned the furniture. rehung the drapes, and cleaned up completely.  Liked the men a lot as well.  Couldn't ask for anything more.  Will definitely use UCP again.

Description Of Work: we just purchased a new home.  This crew took down wall paper, repaired dry wall and sanded and painted the wood trim and moldings white.  We have a 2700 sq foot home and they did the entire 1st floor which consisted of 5 rooms and a cathedral entry way and hallMember Comments: Overall we had an excellent experience.  Our lead crew member was Sean and he was by far the most professional and hard working men I've ever met.  He and his crew were always on time and kept me informed of the progress and even worked around our furniture.  The final paint project is flawless.  I have never seen any crew do such a professional job.  The customer service and responsiveness from the owner Rick was excellent.  He even kept in communication with me and his crew while he was out on vacation.   I was nervous to spend this much on a paint job but he gave us an excellent price and I can honestly say it was worth every penny.   WE will definately use them again.

Description Of Work: The wallpaper was removed from the bathroom (2 separate areas for shower/toilet and sink),  Hardware had been removed so the existing holes needed to be patched and the walls prepared for painting.  There were also areas of the wood molding that needed to be replaced/repaired.  All painting was then completed.Member Comments: We have only the highest compliments for Rick and his crews.  From the first appointment with Rick to the actual job, they are always punctual and dependable.  Once they started the job they were here every day until they were done.  Any problems/questions are immediately addressed - Rick is almost compulsive in making sure everything is perfect.  His employees are reliable and courteous.  Even during the course of the job, they clean up every night.  We never felt like we were living in a war zone.  This was not the first job Rick has done for us.  He did the same type of work last winter in the majority of the house - his crew showed up every day for 2 weeks and did a fabulous job.  We just were not ready to do the bathroom yet and knew we would call him when the time came.   We still have a few more things for Rick to do which we plan to tackle next spring.

Description Of Work: His crew stained beadboards for a ceiling.  They came back and put a shiny coat on.  It was really a small project but it would have been a lot of work for us on our own!!Member Comments: I believe this is the beginning of a long relationship with Rick and his crew.  Originally, we had Rick come out and give an estimate for other work but we decided to wait until January to do the painting.  Soon there after we had an "emergency" job come up and Rick really bailed us out.

It really went well.  All the guys we met had a great work ethic.

Thanks Rick!

Member Comments: Rick was quick to respond to my call and came to give a quotation on painting the exterior of my home within a few days of our first phone conversation. After reviewing his price, I found that he was competitive. However, his warranty and PPG paint products are outstanding and I chose to hire him on those grounds.Once we had scheduled the job, Rick actually called me almost 3 weeks ahead of schedule and told me that they were ready to come and paint. They were on-time, every day. They worked diligently and attended to any issues that we had.I found the experience to be hassle and headache free.

Description Of Work: We had our front porch and back deck cleaned and stained using the Angie's List deal.  In addition, our cedar home was stained and sealed.Member Comments: We initially contacted Rick for the Angie's List special for Decks.  We also asked Rick about sealing/staining our cedar home.  Rick let us know that he could do that too and gave us what I think was a fabulous estimate.  We agreed on the price and scope of work and a tentative start date.  Who knew that the weather would be so rainy for so long!  So the start date was quite a bit later then originally planned (no fault of Rick's!) but when we were finally able to get scheduled Rick and his crew came out promptly and finished quickly.  They did a great job of cleaning up after they were completed.  And they were very good with our dogs!

The most incredible part of the experience for me is when they pointed out there was a leak in the roof of our front porch.  One of the crew climbed up on the roof to check it out and let us know that some shingles were missing.  He offered to fix it for us.  That was wonderful!

Overall, I would highly recommend Rick and his crew.  They did a super job and were very nice to work with.

Description Of Work: Estimate for painting of home office.Member Comments: I called Rick Nitkiewicz for some advice and an estimate on remodeling my home office.  I have judges panels all over the walls and had considered painting them to lighten it up.  It would be an expensive job to be certain.  Rick advised me that he thought painting the panels would ruin the look and feel of the office and not blend well with the rest of our home.  Instead, he offered some good ideas on how to redecorate the room and adjust our lighting.  He could have given me a very high priced estimate for the work, but instead offered ways we could save the money and ensure the best look for our home.  On his way out, he also gave me more free advice on how to repair a stair rail that my son had broken.  This guy is fantastic.  Was tremendously responsive to my emails, showed up on time and in the end... saved me a ton of money.  We are taking Rick's advice and will leave our office alone.  Will definitely call him in the future!!

Description Of Work: --significant amount of scraping and prep on a 100-year-old duplex with 60 windows
--painting of all exterior surfaces except brick
Member Comments: This company exhibits a high level of professionalism. They were thorough but fast in coming up with a price quote, and they stuck to the quote. We knew there would be some wood replacement, and that it would be impossible to know the full condition of the wood ahead of time, but the final cost was exactly in line with their estimates.

The quality of work was high and they were respectful of our office environment.

I rated their price as a "B" only because I know we could have gotten the job done more cheaply, but I feel it's unlikely we would have gotten the same value per dollar. The previous time we painted the building, we did it cheaply and regretted that almost immediately.

I would recommend this company to anyone.

Description Of Work: Ultimate Custom Painting repaired multiple cracks in the plaster on the living room wall surrounding my fireplace. They then applied two coats of paint to the entire living room and a small adjoining hall.Member Comments: Mr. Rick Nitkiewicz arrived promptly on the day he arranged to give me an estimate. He explained that the cause of the plaster cracks was settlement of the house and that it is not an uncommon problem. He recommended painting the entire room since the ceiling curves into the walls rather than meeting at a right angle; therefore any area freshly painted (even with the same color paint) would stand out. From past experience in doing my own painting I totally agreed with him. He promptly emailed me an estimate. He kept me informed of an approximate start date. He was able to start two days earlier than planned which was fine with me. He arrived with his three crew members on time. His men were very courteous and professional. They had me do a walk through after they completed their work just to make sure I was satisfied. They cleaned up thoroughly. I am very satisfied with their work. I can not even tell where the plaster cracks had been.

Description Of Work: The owner of this company, Rick Nitkiewicz, in conjunction with an Angie's List special deal ,cleaned and restored my deck (pressure washing).

He was professional, personable, and efficient, completing the work for the special-deal price, which was unbelievably economical. I added banisters, which were not included in the original offer, and he generously handled the add-on at another most reasonable price. Most importantly perhaps--he brought my deck back to life. His competence is a reminder each time I look at the deck.

The work was delayed for a period because of many days of rain, but Rick kept me informed, and I am glad that I waited until his sure hand became available. I intend to use the company for other projects over the coming months. I feel sure that I will not be disappointed. How often do we find talented service combined with trustworthiness?

And thanks to Angie for this one!

Description Of Work: Ultimate Custom Painting painted the entire exterior of our house, including brick, siding, porch, and trim. I had selected three different colors of paint, one for the siding and brick, one for the trim and one as an accent color. They began by power-washing the house and then showed up the next day to start painting. There were delays on some days due to rain, but they worked on Saturdays to complete the job in the timeframe that Rick had given me.
Member Comments: I contacted five different painting contractors in the spring to get an estimate on painting my house. One never returned my call, three of them took almost two weeks to provide a bid, and Rick of Ultimate Custom Painting got back to me with an estimate within a day or two. Ultimate Custom Painting had painted a large brick house in our neighborhood last year and I thought it looked very well-done. I contacted the people who owned the house and they highly recommended Rick and his crew.

The job of painting my house was supposed to be done at the end of June. This past spring, we had almost six weeks of heavy rain, which delayed the start of the job. Throughout the spring, Rick kept in touch with me to keep me updated as to when he thought they would be able to start painting my house. Although the work wasn't done until August, these circumstances were completely out of Rick's control and I appreciate the fact that he kept me updated as to his schedule throughout the summer.

They did an excellent job of painting my house. The job was somewhat complicated in that I chose three colors; one for the main part of the house, one for the trim and one as an accent color. The crew was polite, on time every day, and cleaned up after they were done. They were also very patient with me as I changed my mind about one of the colors, and also asked them to paint the accent color on very specific parts of the trim. They accommodated my every request.

The day after the job was finished, Rick made a follow-up call to me to ensure that I was satisfied with the work they had done. He is a true professional and I would definitely hire Ultimate Custom Painting again for any future painting jobs.

Description Of Work: The deck was stripped and cleaned and then refinished.
Member Comments: I bought a Big Deal on Angie's List that was for deck cleaning and refinishing. It took months in order to arrange for them to come over and start doing the work. They're busy and rain put their work behind (is the explanation they provided). Once they finally committed to the work, they were there when they finally got around to it.

After they came and started cleaning, they indicated that I needed the wood to be stripped before they could refinish it. They indicated that they could do this for a little extra money. Seeing how I was already out the money for the Big Deal, I decided to go ahead with it. This required them to come back three different times.

During their work, they were spraying the neighbors materials and this was distressing toward my neighbor so they tried to limit the spillage that this was causing although using a high pressure hose to clean makes this difficult.

The work was done in two or three visits and I was sent pictures via text as I was on vacation when they finished. The improvement to the deck is fantastic.

They removed all of the mold and the refinished deck makes it look fantastic again. They even left an empty can of the finish for my reference.

Once you get them for the work, it speaks for themselves. It's no wonder why they're schedule is packed.

Description Of Work: Entire outside wood trim, windows, gutters, screen doors, and sliding doors were prepped. All bare wood was primed. Wood that needed to be repaired was done before everything was painted with 2 coats of finish paint. Wrought iron railings were prepped and painted also.
Member Comments: The men who worked on the house were very thorough and careful. All outside furniture and plants were removed before they worked, and then replaced after they were finished. They were very particular about coverage and checked with me often while they worked. They even vacuumed out the window wells before painting them. All of their supplies and ladders were secured and placed out of sight before they left each evening .

Description Of Work: Painted exterior house and garage. Pressure washed deck and cedar siding. Painted deck and stained cedar siding.Member Comments: Rick was prompt with returning phone calls and providing a bid. He set a date for the project to begin and kept the date. He had a big crew of 5 to 8 guys working on the project every day that it did not rain. The foreman was exceedingly polite and kept me informed throughout the project. The team did a great job of scraping off the old paint. I'm told that the key to a good paint job is all in the scraping. Because so many guys worked on the project, they were able to finish in fewer days than estimated.Company Response: Thank you

Description Of Work: UCP pressure washed the outside of the house, caulked the entire house, and then stained the house and a newly constructed deck.
Member Comments: The project went very well. We loved working with UCP. When issues were discovered during the project (i.e. most of the widows and doors were not weather tight and needed to be caulked) UCP promptly delivered a quote for addressing the problem and repaired it before moving forward.

Our house looks brand new (as they promised from the outset). We couldn't be happier with the outcome of our project.

Description Of Work: Metal kitchen cabinets were sanded, primed , and painted. There were several coats on paint on the cabinets on top of the original factory finished coat. The job included approximately 25 doors and drawer fronts as well as side panels. The painters, Dan and Lou were passionate about their work, demonstrating attention to detail and desire to achieve the best quality work. They were very responsive to my questions, concerns, and requests. After the job was completed, they returned to do some additional painting because I had concerns. They were professional in their work, to include cleanup at the end of each work day.
Member Comments: I was pleased with the company's performance which also included some interior painting.

Description Of Work: Ultimate Custom Painting cleaned and sealed my elevated deck turing it from a dull grey back into its original wood finish. Looks terrific and it's great to see it once again repel the rain. They even cleaned and sealed several steps which had significant algae buildup which was not part of the package and provided information on cleaning the foundation to prevent future problems.

Description Of Work: We bought a "Big Deal" (actually, 3 Big Deals) from Ultimate Custom Painting (Rick) for deck cleaning and sealing. We just bought the house and the deck had not been cared for, was heavily stained with a greenish mold and was very dirty. Rick came one day and cleaned the wood, then returned a few days later to seal it after it had dried. Rick's cleaning/sealing process made the wood look nearly new again. We are very happy with the result.
Member Comments: Rick's service was everything we expected and then some. The response to his "Big Deal" was large and this year's spring rains caused him delays, so it took a few weeks to get to us. In the meantime, Rick communicated with us to let us know what was happening. Every time we made a inquiry, Rick responded promptly. We sense that Rick is a hardworking, honest business owner who can be trusted to deliver whatever you buy from him. We'd definitely use him again.

Member Comments: Rick is wonderful to do business with - he is a true professional. He and his crew came while we were on vacation and we returned to two freshly painted rooms. He returns calls almost immediately and is very timely about getting the job done. The only drawback to this specific job was that there was more sanding than I was told to expect so cleanup was more of a hassle. In the end, however, it's worth it to have a job well done and in a prompt manner. I would highly recommend Rick and his crew.

Description Of Work: We bought a 99 dollar in advance service for pressure washing and sealing of our deck. They keep in contact with us about when the work would be done and the work done was as described. They pressure washed the deck area and then applied a seal. It looks great.
Member Comments: The coupon was purchased in the early spring. I think this was a popular offer so there were lots of decks to do. So the project was delayed due to this factor and the rainy spring. We were able to keep in contact with this company via email and they did come out and do the deck as originally agreed. We were happy with the finished product.

Description Of Work: Ulitmate Custom Painting came to clean and seal my deck as part of an Angie's List Big Deal.
Member Comments: There was a large response to this offer and we had a lot of rain this spring which made it impossible to do this job on many of the days in May into June. Rick was very organized and communicative in providing status on scheduling and projecting when he would be in particular areas. Every time I contacted him he responded promptly and addressed any questions or concerns I had. They showed up when they said they would and did what they said they would. My deck is about 12 feet off of the ground and has about 20 steps up to it. They carried a grill and a patio set plus some miscellaneous plants down into the yard to protect them from the over spray and then carefully put them on the lower deck out of the yard when they were done with the upper deck (the upper deck had to dry). I was very impressed with the care with which they handled my things. The deck looks great. Rick was also very informative on general deck maintenance since this is my first experience having one.

Description Of Work: Ultimate Custom Painting pressure washed and sealed our deck, stairs, and attached wooden fencingMember Comments: Our deck was not in the best shape (to put it mildly). So we arranged for Ultimate Custom Painting to pressure wash and seal it. Rick Nitkiewicz and his excellent employee arrived promptly at the appointed time, helped me move some patio furniture that was on the deck, and then pressure watched it. When the pressure washing was finished and the team had left, the deck looked about as close to new as it possibly could. given its age and original condition. It looked so good, in fact, that the attached fence, which I had not intended to wash and seal, looked terrible by comparison, so I gave Rick a call on his cell phone and asked for an estimate on an additional charge to wash and seal the fence as well. The price he quoted was very reasonable and the team returned within a few hours the same day to pressure wash the fence. The following day, they came to seal both deck and fence. Again they were prompt and did a superb job. They even helped me carry our gas grill into the garage while the deck dried. Among many other things, I was impressed by Rick's personal attention to the job. He didn't just send out a team, he came himself to inspect the work. While he was on site, he also very kindly gave me a few pointers on some glazing work that I was doing myself. That is the sort of personal touch that makes all the difference. I would unhesitatingly hire them again (and will).Company Response: Thank you

Description Of Work: Interior walls painted, entire exterior power washed, prepped and stained. Wood damage repaired and some deck boards replaced.
Member Comments: I hired Rick to do some interior painting through one of Angies Lists "big deals". When he came over to assess the job he also bid on the exterior painting of my large cedar home. We chose Rick because his bid was the lowest that was comprehensive enough. We wanted the deck and fence painted and the whole job to have at least 2 coats. Throughout the whole process, Rick was available. He called or showed up when he said he would and he always got right back to me. The crew was professional and pleasant to have around. We are happy with the finished product and expect to get many years out of the paint job. I have recommended Rick to others in the neighborhood and would hire him again.

Description Of Work: We used the services of Ultimate Custom Painting from May 8th to May 10th. They had a special thing that they used which removed the paint to the bare surface so that the new paint that they put on bonded securely. That wasn’t done before for a number of years. They stripped the old paint and the paint that was chipping. They did that without it going into the ground. Then they used the new paint.
Member Comments: Rick is the guy we dealt with. We contacted them because we have a typical situation in this area all over Pittsburgh and probably all over the country where homes built before a certain date have lead paint. Ultimate Custom Painting is one of the only green painters in the area. So, we contacted them after contacting a few other painters. They were right on top of it from the very beginning. Unfortunately the nature didn’t cooperate. They came out instantly to give a quote and the quote was very fair. As a matter of fact, if you took into account the Angie’s discount, it was lower than the quotes from people who are obviously unreliable. The problem was that we had five weeks of rain. They had to have two days of sun before they could do the job of stripping the gutters down to the bare metal. Finally, they came down with a crew. They were here for two solid days and didn’t stop until they were completely finished. It was a beautiful job too. The one thing we are still waiting for is the certification that he did in fact comply with the lead regulations and we do expect that shortly. They were able to complete it within a very short period by putting all those men on the job. We got the bid from them on April 9th. We paid the final check on May 10th. We spent about $2975 for their service. They were just excellent

Description Of Work: Out stairway hall was painted, including the ceiling, trim, banister and 2 radiator covers. The risers for our stairs were also painted. The work involved a lot of plaster repair to smooth out the walls and smoothing of stair risers, with lots of nail holes from recent carpet removal.Member Comments: We are really pleased witht the work. Rick submitted estimates via email which made communication more convenient. We scheduled the work after getting carpet removed from the hallway stairs and, after the carpet was removed, we were able to get on Rick's schedule within a week. Lou and Dan were always prompt and started work right away. Dan was great about talking me through what they had completed and what upcoming work they had to do. The job took 3 days; it overall included a lot of detailed wall repair and trim work. Dan and Lou cleaned up after each day and were very careful about our newly refinished stairs and floor.

Description Of Work: Painting kitchen cabinets: they sanded down a poor job on the bases begun by another painter, primed and painted the bases, took the doors to their shop sanded, primed and sprayed them there.Member Comments: Rick was great to work with, although we had a couple minor setbacks. For starters, we had hired a local guy to paint the cabinets, and about 1/3 of the way into the job we realized he was horrible and we fired him (but not before he got paint on our brand new appliances and floors!). Rick came and inspected what had been done so far and was genuinely upset on our behalf. He started the work within a week and a half. Two of his guys came to sand down the bases. This created a lot of dust. Unfortunately the two guys did not do a very good job cleaning up. I called Rick (I was not going to put up with another round of malfeasance) and he came and cleaned up the kitchen himself (and fired one of the guys I'm told). The bases were painted within two weeks after that and the doors were taken to the shop to be sprayed. The second minor setback occurred in that we had wanted to get the doors back by the first week of April for our daughter's bday party, but the doors were not able to be done on time. Though the doors took a couple weeks longer than expected, the whole job did turn out great and at a good price (now if I can only get back the money I paid the other guy!).

Description Of Work: Rick offered a "Big Deal" for 4 hours of painting at a bargain price. Rick did exactly what I asked him to do and what he said he would do. He removed mold from a wall in the basement and painted over it with waterproof paint. The final product looks great and I feel relieved that the mold is gone. He also patched another wall going down the stairs and painted it. The work was done on time, efficiently and with skill. I would hire Rick again without hesitation. Member Comments: Rick and I made arrangements to complete the work. Rick mistakenly double booked on our scheduled time but he called and was honest about what had happened, apologized and came just 2 hours later. This was no problem for me because I can understand how this could happen and I had the time that day. When he arrived for the estimate he was very easy to talk with and went about his work professionally and personably. Rick proved to be someone I could trust to be honest and who gave the value promised.

I was not at home while the work was being done, however each day all materials were cleaned up and neatly stowed in the basement. Work took approximately a week - however was impacted by the weather in March. Was very impressed at the speed at which the work was performed - with no impact on the quality of the paint job. Very satisfied.

Description Of Work: This job started with a "Big Deal" for plastering and painting a ceiling. When Rick arrived we went over the plaster problems (the results of a leaky roof). He was very pleasant and knowledgeable. I was also interested in having the room painted. We agreed easily on a price of $519 for the entire job. ($69 + $450) Member Comments: I wanted to wait til after tax time to be sure the money was available. Rick easily agreed. I called him on the 15th, and he said he would come on the following Tuesday or Wednesday on a "rain day". He phoned Tuesday night and arrived Wednesday morning shortly before 8 am. His crew was very nice and easy to have in the house. They cleared the room of the furniture I couldn't move and started work. The plaster job was much better than I had expected. The ceiling was in horrible condition and I was afraid it wouldn't ever recover! After the plaster was thoroughly dried with a heater, they began the painting. They used a color primer, and then the paint for the walls and ceiling. It has dried beautifully. I am very satisfied with the work, and happy to have the ceiling "healed". The crew was clean and took a lot of care with cleanup and mess. They used drop cloths and there was no paint on the floor or baseboards when they finished. I would use them again.

Description Of Work: I called Rick Nitkiewicz to give me an estimate on painting the exterior of our three story house. His response was prompt, professional and I also appreciated that he was honest about the timeframe in which he could do the work. (We called him at the end of March and he said he would be able to schedule it some time in June.) We have hired him to paint our house.Member Comments: I hired a total of five painting contractors listed on Angie's List to get an estimate on painting the exterior of our three story house. The first two never got back to me at all, the third came out, met with me, said he would get an estimate to me within a few days, never heard from him. The fourth took a week to come out after the call and look at my house, and then another week to email me an estimate. Rick Nitkiewicz was the ONLY painting contractor who got back to me the same day I called him, came out and looked at my house within a day or two of the intitial call, and provided me with an estimate within 48 hours after looking at the house. His estimate was very thorough and desribed in detail the work he would be performing. He then emailed me a day later to see if I got the estimate and if the price was about what I expected, (which it was.) I thought that because of his professionalism and the qulaity of the work he does that he wuold be much more expensive than the other company who we got an estimate from. His price was only slightly more expensive, and based on my experience so far, it is well-worth it. He painted another large house in our neighborhood, which looks beautiful. I called the people whose house it is, and they were very pleased with the work he did and had no hesitation about recommending him. We have hired him for the job and are looking forward to having him paint our house.

Description Of Work: Rick's crew painted our hallway, foyer, living room, ceiling, chair rail and picture window. Our kitchen walls were prepped and painted and the ceiling was prepped and painted. Our cabinets were also caulked by the ceiling to make whole. Our dining room walls were prepped and painted along with the chair rail and crown door trim. Our rear hallway walls and ceiling were also painted.

The outside paint job consisted of porch rails, spindles, front entrance wood and 3 pillars. The condition of the porch railing was very bad and much sanding/stripping was going to need done ahead of time.

Member Comments: Our experience with Rick and his crew was fantastic. The interior paint job was quite large and there was a lot of detailing involved. Rick went beyond painting and pointed out areas that he would fix or caulk to make the finished product stand out even more. Rick also has a great eye for color and will steer you in the right direction to make your home and furnishings stand out. The interior painting took two days and we had a crew of three painters the first day and four painters the second. Rick's painters are courteous and respectful and will leave your home in great condition during the painting. They put everything back when done and did extra clean up. They are very concerned about your happiness and their quality of work. Any touch ups you want done, they do it graciously.

The exterior painting was also quite extensive as our porch railings and spindles were in bad condition. Our porch is also quite long. The paint was chipped and the wood was very cracked. The three men that tackled the job, stripped, sanded and filled in the cracks before painting. They did a great job and the front of our home looks so much

better now.

Description Of Work: Before the work began, Rick met with us and developed a detailed written estimate of the work to be done. They painted most of the interior of our house and took down old wallpaper in several rooms.Member Comments: They did an excellent job. We were on vacation for about 10 days. They began early in the morning on the day we left, and by the time we returned the job was completed. This included patching of any holes and covering nail holes. The job was excellent and they cleaned up spotlessly.
Rick provides a detailed estimate of the work to be done, and they carried this out to the letter. They left the house in excellent shape. I would certainly use them again, and would recommend them highly.

Description Of Work: Hired Rick's company to do some plaster repairs in my kitchen. This was through an Angie's List Big Deal offer. Rick's guy (Dan) came to do the work, was on time, professional and he did a great job. Dan also provided ideas on how to fix another drywall-related item in my kitchen. Rick also was helpful in suggesting where to buy good paint and offered tips on interior painting (should we consider doing any in the future).

Home Build Year: 2005Description Of Work: Rick and the guys painted our foyer. Walls and trims and three doors.Member Comments: I called Rick after reading the great reviews on here. My experience in working with Rick has only been positive. Rick was very prompt from the beginning and worked with my schedule. He gave great advice on choosing the paint type and explained everything in detail about which type of paint would be suitable and why. I had chosen an egg shell finish, but Rick explained that as the foyer received lots of light, every imperfection on the wall would be exaggerated with a shiny finish. And our walls do have imperfections. I am so glad I went with his advice, because the walls look fabulous after painting with a flat paint.

They arrived exactly on time and got to work right away. I had to clear out only the small pieces of decorations, they moved the big table and other big objects. Paid great attention to detail. Covered the floor well and no a drop of paint anywhere. They cleaned up very well at the end of the day such that except for the painters tape they left on the first day, you wouldnt know that they had been there. And after completing the job, everything was put back right in place. The walls look so beautiful now that I am hesitating to put any decorations up!!

Although I thought the price was a bit on the higher side, the quality and timeliness of the work done has convinced me that it was worth every penny. Ricks eye for detail also caught a few drops of pine sap spots on the wall from a Christmas tree, which I had missed. The greasy spots came through the paint. Rick went to the paint store and got special primers and he worked on those spots for a good half hour till he was convinced that they were covered for good.

I am very happy for the work he did for us. I will definitely get him and his crew back for painting other parts of the house.

Rick was very prompt in returning my call and he scheduled an estimate quickly. He explained all of the options thoroughly and gave us a prompt detailed estimate. They showed up before the start time every day and were very quiet and professional. They are extremely neat! The stucco outside when done was absolutely beautiful and made such a difference! The basement had cement block walls and they came in and relocated washer/dryer and wash tub to the other side of basement which enabled them to put studs, insulation, and drywall thus finishing up the room. Rick then came in and faux finished the entire project and it is absolutely beautiful! This company should be the standard by which all companies should be run. Thank you Rick!!

Description Of Work: We recently put our 5-year old condo on the market. SInce the builder had not finished plastering and painting the two-car garage, we solicted the services of Ultimate Custom Painting to do the work.Member Comments: Rick Nitkiewicz, the owner, was great to work with. He got the written estimate back to us promptly as he recognized our need to initiate the work asap. He was very friendly, professional, courteous, punctual and conscientious. He thoroughly inspected the work of his crew and if he saw anything that was not up to his high standards, he ordered a "redo." There were a few imperfections with the plastering, so Rick had the plasterer come back out before the painting began. I highly recommend this company because they truly seem to care about the quality of their work. They also use environmentally friendly products. Lastly, during the course of the project, we had a death in our family. We appreciated that he was human enough to extend his condolences. It mattered to us that we were not only customers, but people who deal with the everyday challenge of life. Once we move to our new home, we will engage the services of Ultimate Custom Painting!

Description Of Work: Rick's crew painted three rooms on our first floor. Dan, a plasterer who works with him, also tore down and replaced a sunroom ceiling.
Member Comments: Rick was on top of the job, the entire time. We had a problem with the paint store, and he addressed that. He was here every morning to get his crew started. He responded to phone calls/questions quickly and was very concerned that his crew did an outstanding job -- he is very committed to customer satisfaction. Dan, the plasterer, did an outstanding job of replacing a ceiling that had been damaged by water. The paint crew did good work, particularly given the plaster issues and ceiling/wall edges in an old house. We are pleased with the results!

Description Of Work: We contracted with Rick to strip the wallpaper, prepare, and paint the walls in our front foyer, living room and dining room; paint two bedrooms; and paint the stairwells and hallways from the first to the third floor of our house. All wood trim in the areas being painted was prepared and painted. All cracks and other plaster problems were corrected prior to painting as well. An especially bad old plaster patch job in the dining room ceiling was removed and redone.
Member Comments: We were extremely pleased with our experience with Rick. He responded quickly to our initial inquiries, came over to the house, and gave us a comprehensive quote. His quote was not the lowest or the highest, but we had heard good things about him from both neighbors and from Angie's List. We had asked that his crew start at 6:15 each morning to accomodate our work schedules and except for day when it was really icy, they were there on time. The work took 11 days - a few longer than Rick had estimated - but that was not a problem for us. We appreciated that the same crew showed up each day. We have had previous experiences where different people show up every day - having the same ones was great. And also - they were very nice, neat, careful, and reliable. Take note - Rick has a fantastic plasterer - we never could have believed the repairs he made could have been done. Looking at the finished product it is hard to believe that there was ever any wallpaper on those downstairs walls, that there had been a horrible plaster patch in the dining room ceiling, or that there had been nasty cracks in almost every room - everything looks brand new. When the work was done, the house was nicely cleaned up and all of the trash removed. Our house is almost 90 years old and the rooms Rick worked on look like they are in a new house. We are going to have our hardwood floors refinished and Rick will return when they are done to do the baseboards. In conclusion, we could not be more pleased with this experience - any question we had was answered, any concerns we had were addressed, the price was a very good one, and the final results are excellent.

Member Comments: I signed up for the $49 plastering work special advertised by Angie's list. After some back and forth getting together, the had 150 responses to the ad, everything went well. Rick came and talked to me about the job and said he would have the plasterer come the next Tuesday at 7:30. They were there at 7:15 and worked hard. All wall prep, old window treatment brackets removed/walls repaired and prepped for new finish. Unbelievable result. Wow!!! These guys are pros.

These guys are professional and the quality of the their work is just extraordinary. We decided we would never make that mistake again. We hired Ultimate Custom Painting based on a recommendation of from the guy who did our home inspection and are really glad we did. Wallpaper removal, wall prep, color match to samples were just perfect. Our new house is only 11 years old but needed plaster repair to two walls and celiling corona. His professional crew can do it all. They were all very professional and polite to my wife and I thoughout the job. We will be recommending Rick's company, Ultimate Custom Painting to everyone we know. Spectacular outcome!

Description Of Work: Wall-paper and paneling removal, drywall preparation, plaster work, designing of the new basement area,
Member Comments: Ultimate Custom Painting came in to redesign our basement after we had him paint our kitchen several weeks ago. Rick re-designed the room so that it would work better for what we wanted. He actually listens to what you want. After he removed the wall paper, re-dry-walled some areas and then added a layer of plaster to the walls, the blank canvas did appear as he said it would. Again, the eco-friendly or no-VOC paints were an absolute must as this is our sons playroom. Just as expected, the work was efficient and well done. Thank you Rick for doing another beautiful job in our home.

Description Of Work: Rick and his crew painted the exterior siding, trim work, downspouts and a side door (they did the side door free of cost just because they could see it needed it!)Member Comments: My father is a painter as was my grandfather and my brother. But they live in Michigan so I needed to find someone local to paint my exterior. I have grown up in the business and knew that I was looking for a professional who understood painting was more then just slapping on a cheap coat of paint. Rick and his crew are those people. From our first meeting for the estimate, Rick's professionalism and understanding of the business were clear to me. He said something that I am used to hearing when I worked with my dad. He said: "I don't know if I am the cheapest but I do good work." It turns out that his pricing is extremely competitive and his work is outstanding! Rick and his crew fought through rain and cold to find a day that would work for the exterior job. He was in constant contact and alway professional. His painters were all fantastic! They were polite, professional, and they painted with a good speed and attention for details. Last week my dad saw my house. He is a critic of all my own painting let alone another company. My dad said Ultimate Custom Painting is top notch work. This is coming from a man (my dad) who has been painting for over 50 years and who's work has been in architectural digest. Believe me, if he thinks its good its fantastic! What better is when I told my dad what Rick charged me my dad thought I was lying. My final evaluation of Ultimate Custom Painting - Great quality, friendly and professional from the owner to every painter, and a great price to boot. If you ever need painting done they are they ones to call. I will certainly be using them again. GREAT JOB!

I wanted to let you know of an excellent experience I had with Rick Nitkiewicz. His company is Ultimate Custom Painting, 412-780-9995. We called Rick after reading several reviews on the listserv to get an estimate for a room that was problematic because of old wall paper (painted over) and some water damage. Rick called me back within 24 hours. We met and he provided a very reasonable estimate. His work was even better and the room looks great. Rick was prompt, considerate, professional and does a great job. I could not recommend him more highly.

Description Of Work: Rick and his crew painted the great room of our new home. It is a very large room (28 by 13), and they had their work cut out for them. The ceiling in room slants from 10 feet to 18 feet high. The previous owner of the home had faux wooden beams (aka. cheesy styofoam) on the ceiling. We had torn down the beams before Rick came for the estimate, and after pulling the liquid nail strips that adhered the beams to the ceiling, there was damage to the ceiling. We were told from various companies that we would have to either replaster or retexture the whole ceiling, which would have cost a pretty penny. Rick was honest from the get go, and assured me that his crew could blend the damage out without retexturing the whole ceiling. I was unsure at first after everyone else said there was not way this would work and look nice. However, in one long day (my husband and I were at work) Rick and his crew removied track lighting (and safely capped the wires) scraped, patched, sanded (there was a TON of prep work), primed and painted the ceiling white, the walls cottage white, a wall behind a stone fire place an accent color brown, the trim around the sliding glass doors the brown as well. I was amazed when I came home. Besides the faint smell of paint, it was as if they were never there (that's how well they cleaned up after themselves). The paint job was fantastic. The ceiling looks great. You cannot see the damage on the ceiling. We are very pleased!
Member Comments: I was extremely impressed with all aspects of Ulimate Custom Painting's services from day
Number1, I had ALOT of people into the house for estimates (10-12 companies), and Rick stood out from the rest for a few reasons. Number 1, he was extremely kind and patient. He really took the time to explain everything to me, and answered my questions thoroughly. He gave his expert advice as far as whether we wanted flat, eggshell, etc. Even though we were only hiring the company for the great room, Rick was interested in looking at the rest of home (we are redoing EVERYTHING!) We are doing the painting in the other rooms ourselves, and Rick gave advice about products, techniques and color that ended up being very valuable to us. He even walked the outside of the property and gave advice about weather treatments and whatnot. I was so impressed with his kindness. As a part of this kindness, Rick was honest with me and didnt try to take advantage of my ignorance in regards to the work our ceiling needed. (A few companies did, looking back in retrospect) He was one of two people I had out for estimates that I felt this way about.
Number 2, the price was extremely reasonable. I was shocked at the variety of estimates I got from companies! I thought since Ulimate Custom painting has a nice website (and seemed very credible), there price would be skyhigh. I was very wrong. It was one of the lowest estimates I got.
Number 3, Rick and the crew showed professionalism. Rick called and showed up when he said he was going to. He was punctual and clean. I really couldnt tell anyone had been in the home when I got home(except for the stunning newly painted walls)! My husband was home for an hour or so when they were getting started and agrees that they were quick, professional, and organized.
Clearly, we are very happy we chose to have Ultimate Custom Painting paint our living room.

Description Of Work: Rick and his EXCELLENT crew painted the exterior woodwork on our house ("horses teeth" sofit and facia) including sofit & facia, two wooden doors, three aluminum screen doors, and all woodwork on the house. Scraped and caulked where needed. Contract called for one coat, but the crew didn't like the way it looked, so they gave it two coats......no additional charge. Also caulked under all new gutters we had had replaced due to winter damage. I'd say DO use this company, and DON'T worry about a thing! They'll make sure the job is completed to your satisfaction.Member Comments: Rick emailed me to let me know when they would be there, and that's when they arrived! Worked diligently, neatly, and professionally all day. The most important part of painting is the prep, and Rick's crew did a thorough job of scraping, prepping, and caulking before they began to paint. The cleanup was perfect. No paint chips anywhere, no damaged shrubbery. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this company. Given the neat and excellent work they did on the exterior of our house, I'd also call them for a bid when we need interior work. Rick also emailed me a day or so after the job to make sure I was completely satisfied!

Description Of Work: I am home inspector so I see many painters and contractors work. I had inspected a home that Rick had worked on using a Green Eco-Paint and it looked excellent. I could tell all the little steps were done just right. I called and Rick came over within 2 days and gave an estimate for our kitchen wallpaper removal and painting. He was one of the few who called back and he was quick about it. The job required moving all of appliances and getting the wall paper off. I could not even tell he was there after the job, as he put back the appliances perfectly. The kitchen looks great! Even better is that he used a Green, Eco-friendly no V.O.C. (volatile organic compound) paint that I know will not off gas chemicals in my home for some time after it is dried.Member Comments: Since Rick 's detailed work is excellent and he used a Green, Eco-Friendly no V.O.C. (volatile organic compound) paint I will continue to refer him. The job went very well. Thank you Rick.

Description Of Work: interior painting of kitchen walls and ceilingMember Comments: I previously filed a non-member report ( 7/22/10 ) but have now joined Angies list as a member. My non-member report was very positive but indicated that a few minor touch-ups were needed and that my report would become an unencumbered "A" grade when they were complete. Rick returned and rapidly completed the minor "hick-ups" in a couple of surfaces ( evident to no-one but me ) , and the kitchen is now perfect and I have no reservations about awarding a final grade of "A+" ! As always , Rick was prompt and neat and we are very satisfied .

Description Of Work: Rick's crew pressure washed, scraped and painted my house and garage doors, plus nailed my gutters back in and sealed a few cracks on gutter. They also painted and sealed my two tin mini-roofs.Member Comments: My house needed to be inspected afterward for lead paint removal, which meant that the area was supposed to be covered with plastic. we got off to a rough start -- Rick wasn't there right away and nothing was covered with plastic, so paint chips were flying into my garden beds and all over the lawn. But, from that point forward, they covered my plants with plastic. And Rick had someone there vacuuming all of the paint-chips from the ground. Rick's crew is really accommodating, personable and respectful. Bryan, the foreman has a lot of experience and gets things done. Everything on my house looks totally awesome -- a bunch of paint chips fell onto the tin roof overhang which was wet, probably when they were taking down the ladders, but no one but me will be able to see it. Rick's crew left my place pretty darn immaculate. And the HUD inspector that came for the lead report said it was one of the cleanest sites he had ever seen. Rick was responsive both on the phone and over email. I would definitely use them again.

Description Of Work: Painted my bedroom and the interior and exterior of a new front door.Member Comments: I contacted three companies to give me estimates on painting my bedroom and front door. Rick was very responsive and got back to me within 24 hours to set up a time to look at the bedroom and door I wanted painted. He certainly set the right tone from the start with how quickly he called me back and came out to give me an estimate. The other companies were not as responsive and it took them a long time to even get back to me. I needed this done fairly quickly since I was getting new bedroom furniture and wanted the room painted before the furniture arrived. I was impressed with Rick from the start and decided to give him the job after he gave me a reasonable quote. Rick had his work cut out for him because the bedroom was a deep shade of blue and he had to put several coats on it because I wanted it changed to a light mint green. The bedroom looks much more spacious and Rick and his partner Joe did a terrific job painting this room. Also, Rick painted both the interior and exterior door and entryway and it looks great too. I plan on using them again for other painting projects in my home and would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone who needs their home painted.

Description Of Work: Exterior painting of a 1925 Colonial House with wooden clapboard siding and wooden trim. The house had not been painted for 5-10 years and the paint was peeling in several areas. UCP removed all peeling and loose paint, primed when bare wood was exposed and brushed on two coats of Sherwin Williams Resiliance paint. UCP crew (Bryan and Joe) took their time to scrape and prepare the surface for painting. They prepared and painted one side at a time as rather than sraping the entire house and then painting the entire house. Where necessary they glazed the windows before painting. They also painted the detached garage, a dollhouse and painted/stained a side porch and deck. Rick Nitkiewicz also has a relationship with a carpenter, Don Kahler, and prior to the painting Don came and repaired any rotten wood. The carpentry work was scheduled well in advance of the painting and it was a very helpful service.Member Comments: Very good experience overall. Rick Nitkiewicz was easy to communicate with - via e-mail and phone, returned e-mails and voice mails promptly, and was responsive to questions and concerns. His crew, Bryan and Joe, were also easy to communicate with, worked hard, and took pride in their work. During the entire project, I wanted to make sure that the surfaces were being prepared properly and Rick and the crew were responsive to questions about surface preparation and in the end they took their time to make sure that the job was done properly. The painting crew also brought to our attention any rotted wood or problems that they saw during the preparation process. The painting crew was neat and courteous. They started very early, 6 am, and sometimes worked during the weekends. The carpentry services provided by Don Kahler were also fantastic. The work was done in a timely and efficient manner and Don was very good about using materials wisely and creatively. This was a critical serivce for the painting and it made the painting project go smoothly. The painting project went very well and as a result our house looks great.

Description Of Work: The kitchen ceiling was repaired (there was paint peeling) and the ceiling was painted. I needed some work done that involved three different rooms and so I asked Rick if he would mind coming to my house to give me an estimate when he was finished with my neighbor. Rick agreed and met with my husband and me. He readily understood our needs and we felt that he was extremely credible. Rick gave us a quote on the spot and we agreed to have him do the work. He followed up with us that night to give us a date on the first room that we needed done and the work was completed within the week. Brian did the work and you could not tell where the paint had peeled...it was completely smooth. The door was not solid but had had a lot of diamond shaped glass that made the job a bit more intricate. The end result was a very neat and clean job. I should also mention that Brian felt that the job job needed another coat of paint which was not a problem and I was not charged extra. Rick followed up to make sure that the work was done to our satisfaction which it was. Unfortunately, some health issues evolved for us that we were not able to have the other two rooms at this time. Rick was both understanding and concerned about us. We will follow-up with Rick to have the work completed when our health issues are resolved.

Description Of Work: Recently remodeled kitchen , needed the walls ceiling and wood trim to be painted . Called Rick with hope in my heart despite the experience we were having with the original painter who had done partial "prep" work for which he required payment , and then disappeared and did not return calls for many weeks. He has yet to reappear. Rick had to start by correcting the mistakes and mess left behind by the previous contractors , which included some problems with the counter installation . Several days later, all problems solved , no dirt or mess created and the kitchen looks lovely . I probably should have listened from the beginning to Rick's suggestions ( given only when asked ) on paint and color . He painted some areas with the materials that I had chosen and let me see for myself that I was on my way to a total mistake in the room. The only hold up in the entire process of painting the kitchen was my "decideaphobia" . Rick certainly had the skill to work with my original selections, but the sense to let me live with a wall or two for a couple of days . The result was a move away from the "trendy" metallics that would have made my kitchen far too dark . I felt a bit that I was "settling" for something so much less dramatic that I wouldn't be happy but I was wrong about that too. The kitchen is bright and beautiful , and none of it is because I exhibited design sense ! I would have liked to pay less of course, but I don't think Rick's prices are out of line . "trendy" metallicsMember Comments: I think that the problems most people fear they will have with contractors are the potential damage and dirt created and the lack of follow thru on promises and poor punctuality . Rick made an up-front quote on price that included everything , was always here bright and early and cleaned up every day to the extent that I had not the slightest additional mess to deal with after he finished the job . He checked later on my total satisfaction and has made arrangements to return in a few days to correct one area that does not pass my Obsessive /Compulsive Disorder personality. ( it's a "prep" area messed up by the previous "no-show" painter ) . No one else sees it , of course , and Rick will probably have some difficulty seeing the minor problem also , but I know that he will work on it until I'm satisfied. My price rating becomes an "A" when he's done !

Description Of Work:  Rick Nitkiewicz and Ultimate Custom Painting did an excellent job painting and repairing the outside of our wooden Victorian house on the Northside of Pittsburgh. Rick also brought in a really good helper and excellent carpenter. Rick examined our house, which had some spots that were in bad shape, and developed a plan to repair and paint everything. He worked closely with the paint manufacturer to match our original colors that we chose 15 years ago and loved. Rick solved any problem that came up and did not skimp. Our house is over 120 years old and is a Stick style Victorian. Rick brought it back to life. The job will be finished in a few days and we are very happy with the work.Member Comments: The job went really well. See above. The carpenter Rick brought to the job was Don Kahler Construction (see review). Don did beautiful work.

Description Of Work:  I used "Ultimate Custom Painting" to paint our master bedroom in Shadyside, Pa. Mr. Nitkiewicz came on time and he explained to me what paint finish he thought I should use and why. When I asked questions he was polite and gave me an estimate later that evening as he promised. LIke lots of consumers---I had three estimates and decided to have "Ultimate Custom Painting" do the job because I thought his price was honest, he was professional and I liked it when he told me he would be on site to do the work along with an employee of his. The day the bedroom was to be done "Mr. Nitkiewicz and his employee showed up 15-minutes early, with paint in hand and went right to work. Brian with Ultimate Custom Painting said he expected to be finished with the job in six hours and he was. Mr. Nitkiewicz had me look at the work during the process and when the job was done. After the room was painted "Ultimate Custom Painting" moved my furniture back where it belonged and not a drop of paint was to be found on my hardwood floor.!!!!! Yeah!!!!! I would hire "Ultimate Custom Painting" in a heart beat again....great local crew, fair price and honest work!

Description Of Work: He painted our kitchen. Last summer he painted the outside of our house.
Member Comments: Our experience was perfect. He does excellent work and came back to fix a few defects. He came when he said he would and did his work diligently. When he was done he cheerfully came back a day later to fix some other little things that weren't his errors at no extra charge. I am going to use him again to finish painting the outside of our house.

Member Comments: Project required experimenting to get the correct woodwork match. Rick was patient and willing to experiment as well as seek expert advice from paint manufacturer to make sure the woodwork looked right.

Description Of Work: Painted the interior of my home.Member Comments: I hired Rick to paint the interior of my home, mainly because I wasn't doing it and it needed to be done. He came on time and I didn't have to watch him. He got the job done and before payment let me examine the job so that he could touch up if needed. Overall, it was a good experience. The price was fair in light of the all the work he had to do.

Description Of Work: Rick painted our living/dining area as well as staining our new patio doors. He used 2 paint colors...one on the walls and another on the ceiling/molding/woodwork. The work is perfect....a very professional job.Member Comments: Rick and my husband met by chance at a local hardware store. They were both looking to purchase a product...got to talking...Rick recommended a product (not paint related) to my husband (which worked perfectly). Rick gave us his card, as we were getting ready to paint the interior and exterior of our house. I looked up his rating on the Better Business Bureau website, where he was highly rated. Rick came by to see the interior, explained the kinds of paint he uses and gave us some addresses of homes he had painted on the exterior so we could see his work. That same day, he sent us a contract via e-mail. We contacted him to say we would like him to do the work and he stopped by that day with paint samples. He was helpful in our paint and stain color decisions and worked with us on choosing the color of the stain (I got a sample of the wood and the same day, he stained them the two colors so we could choose.) He was extremely prompt, cleaned up every day, was very professional, Most importantly, the work was first class. We highly recommend Ultimate Custom Painting.

Description Of Work: Exterior of home was painted. Aluminum siding was peeling original coat of paint. Major area's needed scraped, primered and painted. Member Comments: Painters arrived on time and got right to work. Would have stayed longer the first day but the weather started to get bad and rain threatened. Entire exterior siding was finished in two days. Small area near our garage had to be redone because it wasn't scraped and you could see a major difference in painted area versus area that wasn't scraped and just painted. Painters came back within a few days and redid area to match. In the end, job was done well and looks great compared to the original. Worst part of process was trying to pick a color...

Description Of Work: Custom Color Painting of Guest Bath, Powder Room and Plastering/Painting of Dining Room Ceiling.Member Comments: The painting went very well. The plasterwork was excellent (referral through Rick actually did plasterwork), The painting was meticulous, cleaned up after the job with NO MESS! There was a bit of a mishap with the color of my powder room, it was supposed to be a deep sage, it ended up to be an alien, glow-in-the-dark pea green!!! Rick handled this situation absolutely WONDERFULLY and...like a TRUE PROFESSIONAL! He actually brought the Manager of Sherwin Williams to look at the paint color and, the manager agreed- it wasn't true to the color "it should have been". I got to choose another color, which was a color I have used in other areas of my home, at NO CHARGE. I did "NOT" have to pay for the labor regarding this mishap for the job. I totally respected Rick for going the extra mile, and even though he was not getting paid for the day he came out and re-painted the room....he was VERY PLEASANT and, also, apologetic. (Even though it was clearly not his fault!) I will have Rick paint some additional areas of my home in early Fall. If you want a cheap painter you will get cheap-looking results. His rates are mid-range to higher-end. He does higher-end work as well! I was VERY SATISFIED.

Description Of Work: They painted the exterior of our house.Member Comments: We have a very large, 100 year old Tudor house. Rick came highly recommended by our Realtor. The workers were highly professional; power washing the house, scraping peeling paint, and matching the original house color. They thoroughly re-caulked the windows and frames, and did a great job; the house looks wonderful! They also uncovered some problems during the work, such as a beam on the third floor that was damaged; they replaced this beam for $350 additional, which I thought was very reasonable! In addition, they also uncovered some carpenter ant damage; they repaired this after the exterminator left (which was weeks after the painting was done) and re-painted it at no cost! They also made sure that the windows worked correctly when they were finished.
